2024 End of Season
Our summer season is about to come to a close tomorrow, today is our last fishing day. All summer we look forward to seeing each of you and we find it bitter sweet that the season is at an end.
The big story this year was the Silver/Coho salmon they were late and did not come in like they normally do. I would say this is the weakest silver run I have seen.
Pink salmon were slower and later also but we still saw them in fairly big numbers in July.
Halibut was again slow at the end of the year which is typical. June and July were our best months for halibut. We were very close to our normal pace for halibut, we saw the same number of big ones that we usually see. We did finally break the 300 lb mark. The biggest for the year was 358 lbs, setting a new Waters Edge Lodge Record!! Was very exciting to see that big of a fish come in.
Weather was also a bit different this year, July is normally our best weather month but this year it was August. July was very wet and then early August was very nice. Late August was as expected and very wet.
Mary and I continue to get very good comments about the staff this year. We were very blessed to work with such a good staff this year. They seemed eager to help each other and the guests. Makes a big difference when we work together with a great attitude.
Mary and I would like to thank all of the guests that fished with us this summer. We hope you enjoyed Elfin Cove as much as we do. We appreciate your support and look forward to next season and fishing with all of you!
